"A closet that only Elizabeth Taylor could own” is how women who enter this incredible space describe it. Pictures don’t do it justice. Not long ago a closet was just a closet, a plank and rod to hang your clothes. You are about to enter a new world.
This 34 foot by 16 foot addition was built as 100% closet. A closet for one
woman, fitted with a cathedral ceiling and multiple skylights. Daylight fills this closet so that choosing the correct wardrobe for the day is a pleasure. Entering from the center of the 34 foot wall, you are immediately surrounded by a lighted vanity and two 12 foot x 4 foot x 7 foot high islands. The left island has a large flat area for our client to fold her garments as she packs her luggage with ease for weekend getaways. A lighted vanity with organized makeup drawers is found to the left. The closet is divided in half, summer verses winter clothes, one side for each.
Thirty-five drawers house lingerie and miscellaneous attire. Across from the vanity is a large jewelry
armoire. The thirteen velvet-lined drawers, each individually locked, store
only one type of gem each: one for diamonds, one for cameos, pearls and so on.
White laminate cabinets, pink marbleized surfaces and flowered porcelain knobs portray this lady’s style. Sixty-three doors conceal her apparel. The 300 shoe wardrobe is split by season, as well. Each doored cabinet is individually lighted. Fold out hamper areas divide clothes by regular wash or dry-clean, finishing off this expansive dressing room.
Inventory of personal items, organized by season, played an important role in planning the overall design.
We hope you enjoyed touring this elegant dressing room.
